Proud Frequencies is a collaboration between Daughterboard Audio and Hello, Exactly! Records respective founders Elaine Rasnake (she/they) and Drew Sheldon (they/them).
Based on an intersectional understanding of social, political and economic realities, Proud Frequencies’ aim is to serve as an incubator for queer talent by removing the financial barrier for professional mixing and mastering services.
Both Daughterboard Audio and Hello, Exactly! Records are studios founded by queer musicians. Though these projects operate independently, we are both driven to do our work based on the idea that music is a fundamental form of human expression.
Though the evolution of music recording technology has made home recording more accessible than ever, many elements of the mixing and mastering process – the details that give recorded music a feeling of completeness and cohesion – remain elusive and abstract for artists who are new to recording.
In recognition of Pride Month, Proud Frequencies invites emerging queer artists – either solo or in collaborative projects/bands – to submit their recorded projects for inclusion in our Mixing and Mastering incubator program between now and June 14th. All of our finalists will be highlighted through our transparent consideration process before we make our final announcement on June 28th.
Artists chosen for this program will receive:
One-on-one mixing and mastering consultations with our team;
Complete mixes of their tracks, including three rounds of feedback, discussion and complete mixing notes;
A finished master of tracks, including feedback rounds and discussion.
